What this is
OrthoPing is a treatment-reminder service for orthodontic practices. Your orthodontist's office signs up, invites you to the app, and uses OrthoPing to send you reminders about your treatment.
What we collect
- Your name and email address, provided by your orthodontist's office when they invite you.
- Messages your orthodontist's office sends you (treatment reminders, care check-ins).
- Replies you send back through the app.
- Device push-notification tokens, so we can deliver reminders to your phone.
- Standard server logs (IP address, browser/app version) used to keep the service running.
How we use it
Your information is used only to deliver reminders from your orthodontist's office and to allow you to reply. We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models. Your orthodontist's office can see the messages they send you and your replies.
Push notifications
If you grant permission, we'll send reminders to your phone using Apple Push Notification service (iOS) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android). You can turn push off in your device's notification settings; reminders will fall back to email.
By accepting your invitation you agree that automated treatment reminders (for example, "Wear your elastics tonight!") show their text directly in the notification, along with your practice's name, so they can be read at a glance. Personal messages written by your practice's staff never appear in a notification - the notification only says you have a new message, and the content is visible only inside the app.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account inside the app at any time: go to Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, message history, devices, and reminders. You can also email us at privacy@orthoping.com.
Children
Many orthodontic patients are minors. We only accept invitations created by a parent or guardian on behalf of a patient under 13, and we don't directly collect any information from a child without that adult's involvement.
Some reminders ask a question, such as whether your elastics are in, with two buttons to answer. If your orthodontist turns it on, a parent or guardian may be emailed a summary of how often you answered. That summary never includes what you wrote in the app.
Who operates this service
OrthoPing is operated by Digital Nudge, LLC, a Texas limited liability company. Digital Nudge, LLC is also the developer and publisher of the OrthoPing mobile application for iOS and Android.
